It is often said by many foreigners that the Filipino people could very well be the most cheerful people they have met and have the most colorful personalities in the world. And why not, with fiestas and festivals going on in every nook and corner of the island, color could be rubbing off our people.

It is in fact color, which is a main ingredient in most of our celebrations. Just look at the Sinulog Festival of Cebu where colorful costumes are worn by street dancers on a city-wide parade. Or how about the Maskara Festival of Bacolod, where hand-painted masks are ingeniously crafted by the talented Ilonggos every year to create the most unique and colorful maskaras. The quaintly celebrated Pahiyas Festival in Quezon involves decorating all of the town’s homes in colorful, edible decorations. How about that for color?  But not only do we find colorful festivals, we find colorful culture with the local clothing that is often times unique in a region. Our brothers in Mindanao, especially, because of the rich colors of their clothes and things, could shine up the whole island on their own. The Philippines surely is full of wonderful colors all radiating through the Filipinos’ beautiful smiles and radiant warmth.
